Hearts Overflow: Record-Breaking Valentine Luncheon Raises Over $30,000 for Holy Family Ministries

The Valentine spirit was alive and abundant at the "Have a Heart for Holy Family" luncheon on February 8th. Attendees gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Evanston, Illinois, to celebrate love and champion Holy Family Ministries' educational mission. And champion they did, with a record-breaking outpouring of generosity that raised over $30,000 for the Marlene Bakle Scholarship Fund.

This remarkable sum surpasses all previous fundraising efforts at the annual luncheon, exceeding the initial $24,000 goal by a significant margin.  The funds will provide tuition assistance for two deserving students, opening doors to a faith-based education that empowers children and strengthens the Homan Square community on Chicago's west side.

"We are overwhelmed by the incredible generosity shown by everyone who attended and contributed," said Laura Valentino, Chief Development Officer. "This outpouring of support will make a profound difference in the lives of our students and their families."

A dedicated committee, including Susan Crist, Stephanie Gabriele, Peg Lee, Cindi Rachowicz, Paula Selvig, Joan Sherman, and Phyllis Treff, hosted the festive luncheon, which featured a heartwarming program and the opportunity to connect with fellow supporters.

Beyond monetary donations, the event also served as a collection point for gently used adult clothing, accessories, and small household items for the Lucille Resale shop, benefiting Holy Family Ministries.

For those who couldn't attend but wish to contribute, donations to the Marlene Bakle Scholarship Fund are still gratefully accepted online at www.hfm.org or via mail to Holy Family Ministries, 2215 Enterprise Drive Suite 1510, Westchester, IL 60154 (please mark checks "Marlene Bakle Scholarship Fund").

The overwhelming success of this year's "Have a Heart for Holy Family" luncheon is a testament to the community's commitment to supporting educational opportunities and fostering hope for the children served by Holy Family Ministries.  It's a powerful reminder that even small acts of generosity, when combined, can create a wave of change that transforms lives.
